The Clinic will serve the purpose of providing continuing education to CPs and students coming through the previous training programs to bring them to speed with what is being taught in the new training program and to emphasize key foundational principles that should have been taught previously.  You will gain a more indepth understanding of laminitis - the differences between acute, sub-clinical and chronic laminitis; the relation between navicular syndrome and crooked horses; why 'seedy toe' and 'white line disease' and 'stretched white line disease' are really just symptoms of laminitis - and easily prevented.

There will be remedial training as well.  AANHCP CPs do not need to see a radiograph to know where the coffin bone is located or where to safely trim the hoof.  The principles of the natural trim based upon the research conducted by Jaime Jackson on thousands of hooves are at the core of our practice.  All students and CPs should understand the relationship between the Healing Angle (H) and Healing Toe Length (HTL) and how to find it.  You will always be guessing unless this knowledge is completely understood.

In addition, the clinics will also serve to qualify those CPs who are not, at present, field instructors but would like to be able to provide mentorships to students.  Although you must be a CP for one year before becoming a Field Instructor, you may take this clinic at any time.

For students, the clinic will also satisfy the requirement of one mentorship.  For example, if you have completed five of your six mentorships, you may register for this clinic and it will also satisfy the requirement of the sixth mentorship.  In addition, the Step 9 final exam may be scheduled immediately following the clinic in order for students to complete the process in one trip.

* Students may also schedule their Step 9 Final Exams in conjunction with the Kentucky and California clinics.   Please contact Jill Willis to schedule your Step 9 or if you have questions.

You may register for the clinics and/or for your Step 9 Final Exam by going to the NHC Training page at www.jaimejackson.com.

Please be sure to indicate the date you would like to take your Step 9 Final Exam.

2010 Continuing Education Workshop/Step 9 Prep Clinic

In order to eliminate the variation in standards between those students and current practitioners who came through the old program and those coming through the new training program, all CPs and students from the old program are encouraged to take a Continuing Ed Workshop / Step 9 Prep Clinic with AANHCP Executive Director Jaime Jackson.

Dates for CE Clinics

Jaime will be conducting a "Step 9 / CP Continuing Education" clinic in Morgantown, Kentucky this fall from Thursday, Oct. 28 through Saturday, Oct. 30 (in conjunction with Jaime's lecture at the Sound Horse Conference in Louisville on Nov. 5).  Additional CE clinics will be held in Lompoc, California on Wednesday, Feb. 2 through Friday, Feb.4 ; Thursday, March 24 through Saturday, March 26 and on Thursday, June 16 through Saturday, June 18.

The three day clinics are open to all students as well as CPs.  Fees for the clinics will vary depending upon location (inside or outside the U.S.) and, for the clinics within the U.S., we can offer a lower rate to our CPs.

Cost for the Continuing Education Clinics

The cost for the CE Clinics in California and Kentucky are $150 and $200 for CPs and $300 and $350 for students (the lower prices offered for early registration). The reason for the higher fee for students is due to the fact that the clinic satisfys the requirement of a field mentorship.  In addition, we want to encourage ALL of our CPs to come in for the clinics and by keeping the price down, we hope to see everyone attend. The clinic will be a requirement for all new CPs wishing to provide mentorships as field instructors.  You may take the CE clinic at any point after beginning your mentorships.  It does not have to be taken at the end.

There is no charge for these particular clinics to ISNHCP students coming through the new NHC training program after attending any of the training camps as these will serve as a refresher for them if they would like to attend.
